It has now been reported that Jorge Posada’s injury will not require major surgery, and he’ll likely get a chance to play again this season.
That being said, the Yankees may still need a strong presence from behind the plate until Posada is ready, and Jose Molina’s body can only hold up for 3-4 games per week.
The truly decent “in-house” options are scarce, so the Yankees may look to acquire a backup catcher via free agency or trade. |

Jorge Posada is headed to the disabled list for the first time in his 14 year career, and the Yankees are facing what could be a very long season without him. Thankfully, Jose Molina is a very capable backup, but as shown in last week-his body can’t hold up for long periods of time. |
